Lindsay D’Amour Williams is a contemporary artist and storyteller whose work explores memory, Americana, travel, and personal mythology. Drawing inspiration from roadside relics, found objects, animals, folklore, and lived experience, she creates paintings that blur the line between autobiography and invention.
Williams earned her BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design in New York City in 2008 and has worked across publishing, performance, and independent visual practice. Her creative career has included commercial illustration, touring performance throughout the United States and Europe, and an appearance on America’s Got Talent.
She is also the creator of published tarot and oracle decks, including The Desert Illuminations Tarot (U.S. Games Systems).
Artist Statement
My paintings explore the places where memory, folklore, and the American landscape blur together. Working primarily in acrylic, I create scenes that feel both familiar and impossible like neon-lit motels, roadside diners, jukeboxes, horses, abandoned objects, and interiors suspended between recollection and dream.
Growing up surrounded by the visual language of twentieth-century America, I became fascinated with the way the past shifts over time. CRT television static has become a recurring symbol in my work, representing fragmented remembrance.
I create imagined environments assembled from personal history and collective American mythology. Mid-century design, desert architecture, vintage advertising, motel culture, folklore, and cinematic lighting collide to form a world outside of chronology.
Light serves as an emotional anchor, guiding viewers through quiet, uncanny spaces where familiar objects become relics. My work explores how places continue to haunt us long after we leave them, asking what remains when history dissolves into atmosphere and the ordinary becomes myth.
